Irish Sea Moss (latin name: chrondrus crispus) is a red algae that is found on the Atlantic coasts of Ireland, Europe and the United States. Between 1845 and 1850 Ireland experienced their Great Famine due to an infestation that ruined a large part of their potato crops which had a catastrophic effect on the country. The people were starving and desperate for food, so they began eating the algae from the rocks. They realized that the algae contained a high amount of minerals that kept them satiated, so it became their povery food and the name Irish Moss came into life.

It contains 92 minerals out of the 102 minerals that the human body needs on a daily basis. This includes iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium and copper. Irish Sea Moss also contains vitamins A, E, F and K, and is one of the best plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids. These fats are essential for a healthy heart and lower the risk of heart disease, blood clots, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. Being rich in potassium chloride, it works great for congestion and eliminates build up mucus in the body. The algae is also used as a skin softener in cosmetic products because it supports the skin’s natural moisture barrier and keeps harmul, drying elements out. This results in clear, glowing skin, healthy hair and strong nails due to its high iodine content.

– Dr. Sebi on Irish Sea Moss:
”Natural Sea Moss has no salt on it. Sea Moss comes from the ocean. It locks onto a rock, and from that rock it receives its nutrients. A plant has the ability to convert a solid oxide substance into a liquid digestible substance. Sea Moss has all the minerals. It grows in the oceans where the water is in constant motion. It doesn’t grow in oceans where the water is still. So what capitalists in Boston did, is they took a piece of the Sea Moss, put it in a brine with salt on a machine and moved it. The machine is constantly moving. The Sea Moss grows very thick and very fast. It contains large quantities of iodine which makes your hair and nails grow, and also makes your skin glow. It has the highest mineral content of any food on the planet. That’s why it is called a Superfood.”
